Hotel Refurbishments Just a click of your mouse and you can be doing a good deed
Every time you book online to sleep in one of our rooms, you have the option of selecting one of three charities to benefit from your stay. We then donate a percentage of your booking to the charity you have chosen. Whilst each individual amount may seem small, when you consider how many people stay at the City Lodge family of hotels, our contribution, thanks to all our valued guests, becomes quite considerable on a six monthly basis. So thank you for helping us make a significant difference in the lives of others – people and animals. You can certainly sleep easier in our beds knowing you’ve done your bit!

Operation Hunger Operation Hunger
Established in 1980, Operation Hunger is an NGO concerned with alleviating the direct and indirect problems of chronic malnutrition and poverty in South Africa. It is registered with the Department of Social Development as a Not-For-Profit organisation. The organisation has an extensive network and infrastructure that provides unique access to vulnerable people in the most remote areas of the country. The five major ingredients of Operation Hunger’s programmes are: nutrition, food gardens, wellness, water and relief. An important element is to promote and coordinate sustainable self-help projects that improve the quality of life and independence of individuals and communities. The fight against poverty in South Africa continues and the growth of child-headed families due to the scourge of AIDS is exacerbating the problem. More and more effort is needed to improve the economic and social lives of poor families. Operation Hunger needs the support of civil society - businesses and individuals alike - to continue its crusade for the upliftment of the poor. http://www.operationhunger.co.za

The Society for animals in distress World Wide Fund For Nature (WWF)
WWF South Africa was established in 1968 by the late Dr Anton Rupert, as the local office of the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) - the world’s largest and most experienced conservation organisation, with almost five million supporters and a global network active in more than 100 countries.

WWF's mission is to stop the degradation of the planet's natural environment and to build a future in which humans live in harmony with nature, by conserving the world's biodiversity, ensuring that the use of renewable natural resources is sustainable, and promoting the reduction of pollution and wasteful consumption.

Ultimately WWF South Africa believes by working with people, together we will change behaviour and leave a living planet.

South African Golf Development Board South African Golf Development Board
Support the youth of South Africa who are changing their lives for the better through golf.  Our golf coaching programme reaches about 2 000 children across South Africa every week.  Not only do the children learn how to play this wonderful game, they use the honourable principles and values of golf to improve their own lives, and become positive role models to other children in their communities.

Help us build stable communities of tomorrow, one young golfer at a time.

The South African Golf Development Board (SAGDB) is the only body officially tasked with developing golf in South Africa since 1999 by all SA official golfing bodies, and has impacted nearly 16 000 children’s lives through golf.  The success of our programme is reflected in the fact that 12 of our programme graduates have joined the Ernie Els & Fancourt Foundation, by invitation,  since its inception.

CWD Jobstart Training Centre CWD Jobstart Training Centre
CWD Jobstart Training Centre trains unemployed people from the Western Cape to equip them for entry level jobs in the hospitality industry, and trains and supports community based entrepreneurs. This increases access to economic opportunities and improved household income levels for the very poor. Jobstart builds human capital, promotes personal growth and helps people to lift themselves out of poverty.

Started in 1996 in response to dire unemployment and poverty in the Western Cape Province, Jobstart equips its trainees to take advantage of the opportunities offered by the growing tourism and hospitality industry. Jobstart recruits trainees on a non-denominational basis, through community-based programmes and centres in the poorest areas of the Cape Town metropolitan area.

Most of the trainees are women and most are young. On average, each trainee is responsible for supporting 5 other people so that there is direct benefit to these families and the example within their communities of people successfully improving their situation. Jobstart attracts the poorest and the courses are short enough to enable trainees to start earning as soon as possible. Jobstart training includes theoretical, practical, life skills and in-service training which provides a rounded training and equips trainees well for work.
